HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - Ashton Campbell has been crowned Miss Arkansas.
Campbell won the title Saturday night at the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant in Hot Springs. Pageant officials say the 20-year-old from Hindville, who was competing for the first time in the pageant, won in front of a crowd of about 3,000 people.
Campbell won a $20,000 scholarship and more than $75,000 in awards, wardrobe, transportation and gifts. The 20-year-old University of Arkansas junior also will represent Arkansas at the 2015 Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.
Outgoing Miss Arkansas Amy Crain crowned Campbell, who is expected to hold a news conference at 1 p.m. Sunday. Miss Metro Bailey Moses was first runner-up.
