PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Two Portland State University fundraisers have resigned in wake of the $100 million gift that didn’t materialize.
The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1Jog02Y ) the president of the PSU Foundation Francoise Aylmer and its chief development officer Kristin Coppola are resigning effective Sept. 1.
The two pursued a $100 million donation that would have been the school’s largest gift in its nearly 70-year history. But the would-be benefactor failed to deliver. He turned out to be a supercomputer visionary who spun grandiose tales of success to public officials, industry insiders and prospective investors for two decades.
The man had filed for bankruptcy just a few years earlier, listing $0 in assets.
