MADRAS, Ore. (AP) - A heavy-duty truck manufacturer says it will spend $18 million upgrading its research and development facility in central Oregon.
Portland-based Daimler Trucks North America tells the Bend Bulletin (https://bit.ly/1MVWqj8) that it plans to improve its test track in Madras and add maintenance and office buildings.
The company in an announcement Friday also said it will build a truck wash bay and fueling station, adding 30 jobs at the 87-acre facility.
Officials with Madras and Jefferson County agreed to a tax exemption on the company’s buildings and equipment at the facility.
The company says the test track in Madras allows the company to simulate a vehicle’s full-service life in various conditions in just six months.
