SD National Guard members deliver winter clothing items

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota National Guard members have delivered about 1,000 winter clothing items to people in need statewide.

Guard members this month distributed coats, mittens, hats, scarves and blankets to various social service organizations in the communities in which they serve.

The new and gently used items were donated by soldiers, airmen and members of local communities during December at National Guard armories and bases across South Dakota.

Army Lt. Col. Lynn Wilson is the South Dakota National Guard’s chaplain. Wilson says the communities’ response to the winter clothing drive “was phenomenal.”
