New York man, 72, dies when pickup hits tree in Mississippi

HAZLEHURST, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Highway Patrol says a 72-year-old man from the Rochdale area of New York has died in a one-vehicle wreck.

The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/1KstD6t ) reports that Tommie C. O’Quinn’s 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck ran off Mississippi 28 in Hazlehurst and hit a tree about 2:50 a.m. Saturday.

Highway Patrol spokesman Eric Henry says O’Quinn was in Mississippi for a family reunion.

Copiah County Coroner Ellis Stuart says O’Quinn was not wearing his seatbelt.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
