GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Gulfport police say a 25-year-old woman with a pending meth charge faces a new felony alleging she embezzled more than $3,200 from Academy Sports while she worked there as a cashier.
Sgt. Damon McDaniel tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1GqC5Ny ) Lauren Patricia Laiche allegedly stole the money between October and December.
McDaniel says police began investigating Dec. 19, and Laiche turned herself in Friday after learning of the warrant. She was booked at the Harrison County jail and released on a $10,000 bond.
However, she was arrested again Monday and held with no bond for the state Department of Corrections.
Court records show she was enrolled in a drug-court program and allegedly has violated the programs’ terms.
Officials couldn’t provide the name of a defense attorney to comment on the charges.
