SEBAGO, Maine (AP) - The Maine Warden Service says a man was found dead in a pond in Sebago after he hadn’t returned home from a fishing trip.

Mark Peters of Bridgton was reported missing by his wife at about 9 p.m. Monday. The warden service says he had gone fishing alone at about 10 a.m. Monday.

Peter’s vehicle was found at the Peabody Pond boat launch. A search of the pond found his submerged canoe by 11:30 p.m. His body was found shortly after that about 12 feet from shore.

A life jacket was recovered near his body but was not being worn.

The death was under investigation.
