Mississippi congressman Harper endorses Kasich for president

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A Republican congressman from Mississippi is endorsing Ohio Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sik) for president.

Rep. Gregg Harper says Wednesday that Kasich, as governor and previously as a U.S. House member, has tried to reduce government spending.

Harper also says that Kasich showed a dedication to the military when he served on the House Armed Services Committee.

Harper was first elected to the House in 2008 in a district that stretches across central Mississippi.
