TARBORO, N.C. (AP) - The North Carolina Highway Patrol says 26 migrant workers have been hurt after the bus they were in was rear-ended by a tractor trailer on U.S. 64 in Edgecombe County.

Troopers said in a news release that most of the injuries were minor, but two of the workers were seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Greenville.

Authorities say the bus was going about 45 mph around 6 a.m. Monday when the flatbed trailer going about 60 mph hit it from behind near Tarboro.

Troopers say the truck driver, 31-year-oid Aaron Moore of McLeansville, has been cited with failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision.

The Highway Patrol says the driver of the bus was also cited because he did not have the proper driver’s license.
