GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Glendale police say a suspect who exchanged fire with Phoenix officers is being charged with homicide.

Glendale Sgt. David Vidaure said Saturday that 30-year-old Fernando Jaime will face charges related to the death of 25-year-old Ruben Cossyleon, who was wounded in the shooting.

According to authorities, three Phoenix officers conducted a traffic stop Wednesday in Glendale of Jaime’s car.

Jaime then allegedly shot at them and all three returned fire.

Phoenix police say Cossyleon was a passenger in the vehicle and was wounded during the exchange.

He was initially hospitalized in stable condition but succumbed to his injuries Friday.

Jaime fled on foot and was arrested at a nearby apartment.

It was not clear if Jaime had an attorney.
