GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Two New Jersey state troopers discovered nearly $3 million worth of heroin in a tractor-trailer.

They had stopped the truck for a safety inspection on Interstate 78 in Greenwich Township. They found 36 kilograms of heroin inside the trailer.

Authorities charged the truck driver, 58-year-old Oscar Franco of Chula Vista, California, with possession or heroin and possession of heroin with intent to distribute. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.

The same troopers found 54 pounds of marijuana in a truck during a stop at the same location last week.
