POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - A second victim has died following a lightning strike in the Hudson Valley earlier this month.

John Nelson, spokesman at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, says the 46-year-old man died early Wednesday.

The man is the second to die following a lightning strike in Mansion Square Park in Poughkeepsie on Aug. 12.

Officials say lightning struck a tree, traveling down it and shocking five people gathered around a park bench. A 50-year-old man died the next day.

Authorities haven’t released the victims’ names.
