COUSHATTA, La. (AP) - A Coushatta man has been killed in a two-vehicle crash in Red River Parish.

Louisiana State Police, in a news release, said troopers responded to a head-on crash on Highway 1, about a mile north of Highway 177, at about 6:46 a.m. Tuesday.

A preliminary investigation shows that a 2002 Ford truck driven by 29-year-old Joseph Miller of Bossier City was traveling south on Highway 1 when he apparently crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 1998 Pontiac Sunfire driven by 58-year-old Carl Mancil, of Coushatta.

Both drivers wore seatbelts. Mancil was pronounced dead at the scene by the Red River Parish coroner. Miller was airlifted to University Health Medical Center and remains in critical condition.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
