ALPINE, N.J. (AP) - Authorities have retrieved a body found on the cliffs along the Palisades Interstate Park in northern New Jersey.
Palisades Interstate Parkway Police say they had been searching for a missing 24-year-old Paramus man when police dogs smelled a body at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday. It’s unclear if the body was that of a man who was last seen hiking in the park last month.
The body was found in a remote area and police say the victim appeared to be in an area closed to the public before plummeting to the cliff ledge below. The body was eventually recovered around 7 p.m.
Police say they believe the body has been at the location for several days. The death doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
