HOUMA, La. (AP) - State police say a Terrebonne Parish sheriff’s deputy faces charges of driving while intoxicated, having an open alcohol container in her vehicle and not wearing a seat belt.
Trooper First Class Jesse LaGrange tells The Courier (https://bit.ly/294FYTN) Tara Whitney was stopped Sunday evening near Louisiana Highway 24 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Houma.
LaGrange said the state trooper who stopped Whitney conducted a field sobriety test, and she also submitted to a breath test. LaGrange would not release her blood-alcohol content.
Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said Whitney is a lieutenant who works as a juvenile officer. He said she’s been placed on administrative leave until an internal affairs investigation is complete.
Online jail records do not list an attorney for Whitney.
