ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island park has removed signs bearing the name of disgraced former New York Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos.

Skelos was sentenced last week to five years in prison on federal corruption charges.

The park is in Skelos’ hometown of Rockville Centre. The playing fields in the park are called the Dean Skelos Sports Complex.

The Daily News (https://nydn.us/1sqHfbK ) reports that James Coll, who works on the NYPD’s tactics and rescue team, is urging the village to rename the park after Lt. Ronald Winchester. Winchester was a Marine killed in Iraq who lived in Rockville Centre.
