DETROIT (AP) - More than 100 people are marching toward downtown Detroit from Wayne State University, protesting the rise of Donald Trump as the next president.
The Friday night march was organized by a group called By Any Means Necessary, which regularly speaks in favor of affirmative action and immigrant rights in southeastern Michigan.
Kal Barawi, a student at University of Detroit Mercy, held a sign that said, “Show Love, Spread Love.” He accepts the result of the election but is upset over the divisive tone of Trump’s campaign.
The 20-year-old says, “This is not a country we want to become.”
Another protest was organized in Royal Oak, where some students this week chanted “build the wall” - an apparent reference to Trump’s call to build a wall at the Mexico border.
