If the Washington Redskins want to avoid being 0-2, they will have make the next three quarters the opposite of Sunday’s first quarter.
The Dallas cowboys led 10-0 after a dominant first quarter. Two extensive drives in two possessions resulted in the Cowboys’ points. They held the ball for for 10:48 of the first quarter.
Many of the Redskins’ problems from last week persisted in the first quarter Sunday. Quarterback Kirk Cousins was not crisp, missing an open Jamison Crowder for a touchdown.
The defense was repeatedly victimized by play-action bootlegs from Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott.
Again, Redskins cornerback Josh Norman played his side and did not trail the opposition’s marquee receiver, in this case, Dez Bryant. Bryant was often lined up across from Bashaud Breelad.
Veteran Redskins nose tackle Kedric Golston injured his hamstring on the first play of the game and was ruled out. Golston’s absences means a thin defensive line becomes thinner on a hot day.
