HILLBURN, N.Y. (AP) - A New Jersey man is in a New York jail after authorities say he led police from both states on a chase in a stolen flatbed truck.

New York State Police say officers with the East Rutherford Police Department were pursuing 50-year-old Paul Gudanowski of Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, Monday morning as he drove onto Interstate 87 at Exit 15A in Ramapo in Rockland County.

New York troopers joined the pursuit as Gudanowski headed north on I-87 before making a U-turn and continuing south, hitting two trooper cars and disabling both. Police he hit an East Rutherford police vehicle before the chase ended on Route 17 in the village of Hillburn.

The charges against Gudanowski include driving while intoxicated and reckless endangerment.

He’s being held in jail. It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer.
