A young girl died Thursday after falling 10 stories at an apartment complex in College Park, Maryland, the third fall there since last August.

The Prince George’s County Police Department told WDVM-TV that the child fell at around 9 p.m. Thursday and died at the hospital.

Police did not specify the name of the apartment complex, but said it was located in the 9300 block of Cherry Hill Road, according to Washington’s WUSA, matching the Seven Springs Apartments complex.

A relative of the deceased told D.C.’s WTTG the victim was a 4-year-old girl, adding that she fell from a bedroom window and that a screen was next to her when she was found on the ground.

A 3-year-old boy fell from the sixth floor of the complex in August, and a 2-year-old boy fell from the same height in November, according to WDVM.

Neither of those falls was fatal, though both suffered serious injuries, according to WUSA.

The Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement told WTTG that the latest incident is being investigated along with the two falls from 2025.

Officials told the TV station that the complex dates back to the 1960s and was built to comply with the building codes of the time.
