Several area boat clubs offer get-acquainted programs for novice rowers. It's not too late to plunge in: A number of programs extend into the fall.

District
Capital Rowing Club, Anacostia Community Rowing Center, 1115 O St. SE (underneath the 11th St. Bridge next to the Washington Navy Yard). See or call 202/289-6666.
Novice Sweep Rowing Program. May to August (call for times). $200 per person.
Senior Sweep/Sculling Program (Must be 50 or older; beginners welcome). 7:45-10 a.m. Saturdays, April to November. $50 (six Saturdays).

Learn to Row, Team Sweep Style. 6-7:30 a.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. April to October. $200 per person (two-week session).
Beginning Adult Rowing, Individual Sculling Style. 6-7:20 a.m., 7:20-8:45 a.m., 5:25-6:40 p.m. and 6:45-8 p.m. May to September. $150 per person (one-week session).
