As development expands beyond Leesburg, consumers looking for the rural lifestyle need to travel farther west on Route 7.
At Heather Knolls II, just off Route 7 in the historic town of Hamilton, buyers will find 38 3-acre estate homesites in a newly opened section.
Close to Leesburg and Purcellville and within easy driving distance of Dulles, Reston and Tysons Corner, Heather Knolls II offers its residents a taste of country living along with the convenience of accessible dining, shopping and entertainment.
Mountain and pastoral views surround the estate homes at Heather Knolls II now under construction by InterActive Builders Inc. Six models will be available, with base prices from $679,900 to $829,990.
Adding to the luxury of the large lots, buyers will be able to customize their homes, starting with a stone or brick exterior option. InterActive Builders includes an online home-design tool, which allows buyers to browse through an array of options including structural changes and additions such as porches, sunrooms, libraries, screened porches and bay windows.
At the design center, buyers can see samples of other features, including the finishes and trim they might want to choose. InterActive Builders also encourages buyers to visit potential vendors for window treatments, security systems, structured wiring packages and other items that can be wrapped into the mortgage payment.
Standard exterior features on the homes include maintenance-free vinyl siding in a variety of colors, a professionally landscaped front yard and a 25-year asphalt shingle roof. Each home includes an attached three-car garage. A detached two-car garage is an option available on some homesites.
Inside, each home includes 9-foot ceilings on the main level; a family room fireplace; hardwood flooring in the foyer; a large breakfast area; and a Colonial trim package including six-panel doors, crown moldings, chair-rail moldings and shadow-box moldings.
Kitchens include Corian or granite counters, upgraded appliances, and 42-inch wall cabinets. The three full baths and a powder room have ceramic-tile floors. There are ceramic-tile tub and shower surrounds, and the master baths are dramatic and luxurious.
Each home will include a full-size basement with 9-foot ceilings and a plumbing rough-in, dual-zone heating and air conditioning, gas heat, and gas hot water.
The Wyndham model, base-priced from $718,990, features a columned front porch leading into a two-story foyer with an arched opening into the formal dining room.
On the opposite side of the foyer is the formal living room.
All three of these spaces include multiple windows.
In the center of the home is a split staircase accessible from both the kitchen and the foyer leading to the upper hall.
Across the back of the home are a large family room with multiple windows and a fireplace, a breakfast nook with two walls of windows, a center-island kitchen, and a mudroom and laundry room adjacent to the garage.
A second front porch adjacent to the garage leads into the laundry room for an additional entrance to the home.
The Wyndham model’s main level can be nearly doubled with the addition of a library, a screened porch, a sunroom with four arched openings to the family room and breakfast nook, and a home office with its own powder room and an exterior door.
Upstairs, the standard Wyndham model has a master suite with a large bedroom; a dressing area; a double walk-in closet; and a bath with a tub, large-scale separate shower and two separate vanities.
The second bedroom has a walk-in closet and private full bath, while the third and fourth bedrooms share a connecting bath with a double-sink vanity. A large walk-in linen closet is off the hall.
This level can be customized with a loft computer area in place of the two-story foyer and a sitting room addition off the master suite. The lower level can be finished with a recreation room, a game room, a media room, a den and a full bath.
