The Washington Redskins continued meeting with potential draftees yesterday, concluding a visit with Miami tight end Kellen Winslow II during the day and then opening sessions with Iowa offensive tackle Robert Gallery and Utah State tight end Chris Cooley in the evening, a source with knowledge of the visits said.

Gallery, potentially the draft’s premier tackle, would fall to the Redskins’ fifth overall pick only in an unlikely turn of events. Cooley is a potential second- or third-round pick whom Washington might eye if it trades down in the first round.

The Redskins also have Florida tight end Ben Troupe, a possible late first-round pick, scheduled to arrive tomorrow night. All told, the club plans to play host to about 11 potential draftees the next two weeks.

Sources have said Washington is eyeing Winslow and Miami safety Sean Taylor, who will visit next week, at the fifth overall spot. The club also is weighing a variety of trade-down scenarios, which is why players like Cooley and Troupe are visiting. The team has choices in only the first, fifth and sixth rounds.

Meanwhile, Winslow officially has named Kevin Poston his agent, perhaps decreasing the odds that the Redskins will select him. A source with knowledge of the situation said Winslow has filed the necessary paperwork with the NFL Players Association.

The Redskins are wary of selecting another player represented by Poston and his brother, Carl Poston, who together run Professional Sports Planning. Kevin works out of Farmington Hills, Mich., while Carl works out of Houston.

The brothers are notorious for their aggressive tactics, which have led to some high-profile holdouts. More significant for Washington, though, is a recent grievance filed by the Postons and linebacker LaVar Arrington, who accused the Redskins of removing a $6.5 million roster bonus from the final version of Arrington’s contract.

Washington is concerned drafting one of the Postons’ clients could lead to a holdout that neutralizes any on-field benefit the player might provide.
