Friends again

Stop the presses: Former best-buds-for-life Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have apparently ended their 18-month feud, E! Online reports.

According to the Web site, the celebutantes and co-stars of the reality hit show “The Simple Life” arrived together Sunday night at Dan Tana’s Steakhouse, a West Hollywood eatery with paparazzi chronicling their every move.

No word yet on what sparked the sudden reconciliation. But perhaps the lack of information is fitting, since there’s still no official word on what caused the spat in the first place. Theories abound as to why the two friends called it quits in the spring of 2005. The most enduring rumor cites Miss Hilton being peeved when Miss Richie (daughter of pop superstar Lionel Richie) screened “One Night in Paris” — the now infamous sex tape featuring Miss Hilton — in front of friends and family that had originally gathered to watch the hotel heiress host “Saturday Night Live.” Another persistent rumor is that Miss Richie’s growing fame eclipsed her role as sidekick on “The Simple Life” and she was no longer happy playing second fiddle to Miss Hilton.

Last April, Miss Hilton famously issued a statement acknowledging the spilt. The feud was so bitter that the two shot separate segments for their reality show — originally seen on Fox but now airing on cable’s E! Entertainment Television.

Brangelina mobbed

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, in India to shoot scenes for a movie about the slain journalist Daniel Pearl, experienced another harrowing day. The celebrity couple were chased by photographers, cameramen and reporters on Sunday, forcing them to turn back after a 20-minute ride that took them past shops and department stores in downtown Pune, in western India, Associated Press reports.

Several traffic signals slowed their short rickshaw ride. At every red light, security men traveling in a rickshaw behind jumped out and surrounded the three-wheeler to prevent the media from snapping pictures of Mr. Pitt, Miss Jolie and their 5-year-old son. They then returned to the Meridian Hotel, where they have been holed up since arriving on Thursday. Security for the star couple has been tight since their arrival in Pune by private jet along with their children Maddox, 5, Zahara, 18 months, and 4-month-old Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.

On Saturday, one of the couple’s bodyguards manhandled a British photographer as he tried to take their picture at the hotel, an incident caught on video by an Indian television station. When Mr. Pitt and Miss Jolie tried to leave the hotel, a security guard caught the photographer trying to take their photo, grabbed the man by his neck and verbally abused him. Video of the incident was broadcast on India’s CNN-IBN news channel, and the Hindustan Times newspaper identified the photographer as Sam Relph of Barcroft Media.

A weekend call to the office of Mr. Pitt’s publicist in Beverly Hills, Calif., was not immediately returned.

Altar call

Actor Tim Allen tied the knot with actress Jane Hadjuk, his girlfriend of five years, in an intimate Colorado ceremony, AP reports.

The couple’s family were the only guests at the private affair, held Saturday in Grand Lake, Colo., Mr. Allen’s publicist, Marleah Leslie, said yesterday. It is the first marriage for Miss Hadjuk, 39, and the second for Mr. Allen, 53. He was previously married to Laura Deibel.

Miss Hadjuk and Mr. Allen— star of the ABC sitcom “Home Improvement” (1991-1999) — appeared together earlier this year in the children’s action film “Zoom.”

The actor will next be seen in the upcoming “The Santa Clause 3” with Martin Short. He recently finished filming Disney’s “Wild Hogs” with John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy.
