Gerald Lawrence Santos Jr. , a musician, died April 26 of a heart attack at his Falls Church home. He was 54.

Mr. Santos was born on Jan. 14, 1953, in Augsburg, Germany, where his father was stationed with the Air Force.

He grew up at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, and moved to Arlington when his father was transferred to the District. Mr. Santos graduated from Washington-Lee High School in 1971.

Mr. Santos was an accomplished guitarist and local musician. He began playing in rock ‘n’ roll bands in high school. He played in several bands including Grendel, Fantasy, Dance Patrol, Native Sons and the Jerry Santos Band.

He played with his band at local clubs and for the past 10 years also was a disc jockey. Over the years, he and his wife rescued and cared for abandoned rabbits.

Mr. Santos is survived by his wife, Terry, of Falls Church; his parents, Louise Phillips of Falls Church and Gerald L. Santos Sr., of Westport, Mass.; a sister, Debra Wright of Falls Church; and two brothers, Jeffrey Santos and Steven Santos, both of Woodbridge, Va.
