Washington Nationals at Milwaukee Brewers
Where: Miller Park in Milwaukee
Today: 8:05 p.m., LHP Matt Chico (2-3, 6.59) vs. LHP Chris Capuano (4-0, 2.90).
Tomorrow: 8:05 p.m., RHP Jason Simontacchi (first start) vs. RHP Dave Bush (2-3, 6.03).
Wednesday: 1:05 p.m., RHP Jason Bergmann (0-3, 3.34) vs. RHP Claudio Vargas (3-0, 2.89).
Series breakdown: Quick, name the best team in the National League. It might very well be the Brewers, who haven’t had a winning season since 1992 and haven’t made the playoffs since 1982. These guys are legitimately good, led by a core group of young players that includes shortstop J.J. Hardy, first baseman Prince Fielder and center fielder Bill Hall. The key, though, has been a pitching staff that has posted a 3.47 ERA this season. Veteran Jeff Suppan (5-2) has blended in nicely with Capuano, Bush, ex-Nationals pitcher Vargas and finally healthy ace Ben Sheets.
