INJURY UPDATE

First baseman Dmitri Young will be out of the lineup until Friday with a sore left Achilles tendon.

Young has been bothered by the injury for the last week or so, and his performance suggests it has been negatively affecting him.

The veteran has just seven hits in his last 53 at-bats and has seen his batting average fall to .224. He was held out of the starting lineup Sunday in Chicago and was replaced last night by Robert Fick.

Rookie Kory Casto and newly added veteran Tony Batista also could see playing time at first until Young returns.
