Today: Volunteers in Civil War uniforms interpret the history of historic Fort Washington and wartime life at the fort during Lantern Tours from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Fort Washington Park, 13551 Fort Washington Road, Fort Washington. April 24: The Alpine Station Civil War Round Table will meet Leroy Buzz Chamberlain as he shares his knowledge and collection of material on Union Gen. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (a distant relative) at 7 p.m. in the Hancock Museum at Town Hall on High Street in Hancock. Free and open to the public. for more information, phone 301/678-6308.

Today: The City of Fairfax and Frank Stringfellow Camp 822 Sons of Confederate Veterans will dedicate a Virginia highway marker commemorating approval of the first Confederate Battle Flag at the former Ratcliffe home. Mayor Robert Lederer will officiate at the 9 a.m. dedication at the corner of Main and Oak streets in Fairfax. A brief ceremony immediately following the unveiling will be held at nearby Pat Rodio Park. Parking is available behind Paul VI Catholic High School. Free and open to the public.
April 19: The National Park Service presents “Lee”s Great Decision: How Robert E. Lee”s Resignation From the United States Army Shaped Our Nation,” from 7 to 10 p.m. at Arlington House, the Robert E. Lee Memorial, in Arlington National Cemetery. Author Elizabeth Pryor will provide lectures on the subject throughout the program. Guided walks will be available by lantern to take visitors to the graves of Civil War soldiers. Reservations are required and will be available every 15 minutes from 7 to 9 p.m. To make a reservation, phone 703/235-1530.
April 24: The Prince William County Department of Public Works presents It Started in Prince William County,” a lecture by Mark Trbovich about J.E.B. Stuart”s controversial ride to Gettysburg, at 7 p.m. in the Old Manassas Courthouse, 9248 Lee Ave., Manassas.
Today and tomorrow: The Northern Virginia Relic Hunters Association holds its 36th annual American Civil War Show at the North Building of the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Admission $8; children under 12 free. Information: 703/367-7999.
