How did you get started in real estate? After college I worked in retail management positions. When our children were born, I was fortunate enough to become a full-time mom for about 10 years. After the children were in high school, I thought it was the right time to re-enter the work force. I love houses and working with people, and I felt I needed a career that would offer challenge, a good income and a flexible work schedule. Voila, real estate, and 27 years later I’m still going strong and loving it.

Most memorable house: The original farmhouse in Rockshire was a unique selling experience. It was more than 100 years old, had bats in the attic, powder post beetles (requiring the house to be fully tented), snakes in the dirt basement, uneven floors and a collapsing bridge that wouldn’t support the weight of the moving truck. The buyers were thrilled with the historic property, and we became lifelong friends.

Worst experience: A nightmare for the absentee seller and me. It took more than three years to sell the house. An accidental heating oil spill caused by a local fuel oil company outside the house resulted in the EPA condemning the property for more than two years. It took hundreds of hours of work on my part, coordinating contractors, visiting the property, but the home eventually was made better than new and sold at a fair price.

Family: Married to Carl Di Pietro for 46 years; children, Margaret Ann and David, are both married and live in the area; six grandchildren.

Pets: Maltese, Sweetie

What is your personal dream house? I’ve been in so many beautiful homes in my career, large and small. For 13 years, we lived in Fallsmead, and although our home was small by most standards it was a wonderful “dream house” experience. We raised our family in a wholesome, fun-loving, safe community with great schools and terrific neighbors. We made friends for life. After the children went off to college, we moved to Avenel and enjoyed our “dream house” on the golf course, with a large lake, evening sunsets, undulating greens, large rooms, high ceilings and, of course, Kemper parties for friends and clients.
