No. 4 Virginia 12, No. 6 North Carolina 11 (OT)

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Junior Steve Giannone picked up a groundball and scored the game-winning goal with just more than a minute left in overtime to complete the Cavaliers’ comeback against the Tar Heels.

Virginia (10-1, 1-1 ACC) trailed 11-8 with 3:38 left, when Giannone initiated the surge with his sixth goal of the season. Then, Danny Glading helped force overtime, setting up Ben Rubeor and scoring the tying goal with 16 seconds left.

Bart Wagner had three assists for North Carolina (7-3, 0-3).

No. 2 Duke 17, No. 10 Johns Hopkins 6

DURHAM, N.C. — Zack Greer scored six goals and Matt Danowski handed out six assists to become the ACC’s all-time leader in that catagory as the Blue Devils (11-1) defeated the Blue Jays (3-5).

No. 5 Georgetown 10, Fairfield 8

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Brendan Cannon scored with 4:04 left to snap the tie and lift the Hoyas (7-2) to a win over the Stags (3-6).

Cannon’s unassisted goal was his second of the afternoon. Andrew Baird, who added Georgetown’s insurance goal less than a minute later, was one of three other Hoyas who scored twice.

No. 12 UMBC 10, Binghamton 5

VESTAL, N.Y. — Sophomore attackman Matt Latham scored a career-high five goals and senior midfielder Terry Kimener added three fourth quarter goals as the Retrievers (7-3) won their sixth straight game with a victory over the Bearcats (2-5).

Towson 10, No. 18 Delaware 7

TOWSON, Md. — Attackmen Jonathan Engelke and Bill McCutcheon combined for seven goals and five assists as the Tigers (3-6) overcame a three-goal halftime deficit to beat the Blue Hens (7-4).

No. 20 Loyola 15, Rutgers 3

BALTIMORE — Senior Shane Koppens scored two goals and added three assists in the Greyhounds’ blowout of the Scarlet Knights.
