20 years of cars in McLean

A Saab 9-X concept car will be on display Sunday for the pleasure of spectators at the 20th annual Out of the Past Revue. Scores of authentic antique cars, whose sheer beauty may take your breath away will also be shown.

The annual gathering, which features some of the most spectacular and unusual antique vehicles in the D.C. area, is free and open to the public.

Any of the more than 1,000 antique vehicles that have been feature subjects in Vern Parker’s Out of the Past column since 1988 will be eligible to be displayed at the invitational event.

The crowd favorite from last year, a 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300SL roadster, will be displayed beneath a courtesy tent provided by Brooke Rental Center.

The antique car show is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Spring Hill Recreation Center in McLean, rain or shine. Refreshments will be available on the grounds, or spectators can pack a picnic lunch to enjoy while viewing the antique vehicles.

To get to the Spring Hill Recreation Center:

Take the Capital Beltway exit onto Leesburg Pike (Tysons Corner).

Exit Route 7 by turning right onto International Drive and pass in front of Tysons II shopping mall.

After a few blocks, International Drive becomes Spring Hill Road.

Continue under the Dulles Access Road.

Spring Hill Recreation Center is straight ahead at the intersection with Lewinsville Road.

Spectators are encouraged to cast ballots for their favorite antique car for the “People’s Choice” award. Trophies will be presented at the conclusion of the show.
