YICHANG, China — The Olympic torch relay Sunday reached the Chinese city of Yichang, known as the “world’s city of power,” state-run media says.

The Xinhua news agency said Sunday’s ceremony in Yichang marked the second torch ceremony in Central China’s Hubei Province and involves the passage of the ceremonial item between 208 torchbearers.

The first of the honorary torchbearers for the Yichang event was Li Ting, an Olympic doubles tennis champion for China.

The Yichang leg of the torch relay will end with China Yangtze Three Gorges Project Corp. Deputy General Manager Cao Guangjing carrying the torch, Xinhua said.

The Three Gorges Project, involving the creation of a hydroelectric river dam, is based in Yichang.

The next stop for the torch is the city of Jingzhou, which will represent its last stop in Hubei Province.
