Chris Bourque is back from Hershey and will take Donald Brashear’s place in the Capitals’ lineup.
“Awesome — it was a good call to get, and I am really excited to be back,” Bourque said.
Bourque had a great camp, finishing the preseason with three goals and six points. In the past, that would have been enough to make this team. Instead, he was cut because of a numbers crunch.
When Bourque was sent to Hershey, he could have been upset about starting a fourth season in the American Hockey League. Instead he continued his hot pace, putting up two goals and five points in three games.
“That’s not my style — I want to help that team out, not bring them down,” Bourque said.
Bourque played four games with the Caps last season but saw little ice time and wasn’t able to make much of an impact.
He’d like to make this time with the team last a little longer.
“I feel a lot more confident out there and like I have a lot more to prove,” Bourque said. “Last year I was just kind of happy to be here, and now I want to be here to stay.”

TWT FIVE » TV-UNFRIENDLY CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHUPS
With a Rays-Phillies World Series looming, a look back at championships that made television executives cringe:
1. Broncos vs. Falcons, 1999 — John Elway and the Broncos’ cakewalk in Stupor Bowl XXXIII tied Redskins-Bills in 1992 for lowest Super Bowl ratings share ever at the time.
2. Marlins vs. Indians, 1997 — Like “Emily’s Reasons Why Not,” this series had plenty of drama but no viewers — at least not until the thrilling Game 7.
3. Ducks vs. Senators, 2007 — Game 3 of this expansion duel matched the lowest prime-time ratings in NBC history (1.1 rating). But hey, that wasn’t one of the best episodes of “The West Wing.”
4. Tigers vs. Cardinals, 2006 — St. Louis’ easy victory stands as the least-watched World Series ever.
5. Spurs vs. Nets, 2003 — NBA Finals, WNBA ratings. If this series hadn’t gone six, it probably would have the smallest viewership in Finals history.
