WASHINGTON (AP) - This is a test-c of the Associated Press.

A group of D.C. nonprofit organizations that help small businesses say the city is not supporting them.

The eight nonprofits are under contract with the city’s Department of Housing and Community Development and provide services to local and minority-owned businesses.

The city has cut $1 million in grants for the nonprofits as part of an effort to narrow an $800 million budget gap.

Manuel Hidalgo, executive director of the Latino Economic Development Corporation, says the move shows that small businesses are not a priority to city leaders.

Angelita Colon-Francia, a housing department spokeswoman, says that’s not the case, and that officials hope the cuts are only temporary.
