John B. Bellinger III joined Arnold & Porter LLP’s Washington office as a partner of the international law firm. Mr. Bellinger served as legal adviser to former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. He also served as legal adviser to the National Security Council from 2001 to 2005 and as counsel for national security matters in the criminal division of the Justice Department from 1997 to 2001.

John Steele joined the Washington branch of Roetzel & Andress as partner. Mr. Steele was a partner in the Washington office of K&L Gates.


John P. Kyle joined CresaPartners of Washington, a corporate real estate firm, as senior vice president. Previously, Mr. Kyle served as senior managing director at the Washington office of Studley, a real estate firm specializing in tenant representation.

Michael L. Hetchkop joined CresaPartners as executive vice president for lease audit and workouts. Prior to joining CresaPartners, he oversaw the financial and tenant lease management divisions of the Ezra Co., a commercial real estate firm with offices in Bethesda and Washington.


• Sidus Group, an Annapolis Web design and managed-hosting business, hired Cathy Porter as business development director. Ms. Porter was strategic relationship manager for Clovis, a Bethesda staffing and recruiting firm. She graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

• Washington Network Inc., an Alexandria computer networks and telephone systems provider, named S. Gregory Cottrell chief financial officer and controller. Before joining Washington Network, Mr. Cottrell was vice president of finance and accounting for CD Financial Co. Inc. of Herndon. He is a graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Clarabridge, a Reston provider of text-mining software, announced four new hires:

Brendan Haggerty was named vice president of engineering. Mr. Haggerty has more than 13 years of experience in enterprise applications, including stints with SAP Labs, C-Systems International and American Management Systems.

Sean Phillips joined the company as vice president of product development. Mr. Phillips was chief information officer at VetInsite, a veterinary communications company now known as Vetstreet.

Gene Sohn was promoted to chief architect after serving as vice president of engineering at Clarabridge. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

• Clarabridge hired Jack Mok as Western regional technical account manager. Mr. Mok was vice president of client services for Island Data, now known as Overtone, a global intelligence provider.
