WASHINGTON (AP) - Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is criticizing North Korea for its decision to restart its nuclear reactor and to boycott international disarmament talks.
In brief remarks Tuesday to reporters at the State Department, Clinton said North Korea’s reaction to a U.N. Security Council statement condemning the North’s recent missile launch was unnecessary. Her words were a bit more measured than those from the White House, which cited the North for what it called “provocative threats.”
Clinton said the U.S. hopes to discuss the matter with its allies and partners and eventually with the North Koreans.
