WARSAW, POLAND (AP) - A Polish mayor says the number of people killed in a fire at a shelter for homeless people in northwestern Poland has risen to 22.
Mayor Bronislaw Karpinski of the city of Kamien Pomorski also says one young woman remains unaccounted for after Monday’s fire at the three-story shelter.
Police and prosecutors were inspecting the charred shell of the building Tuesday for clues to the cause of the fire. City and state officials distributed aid to the survivors.
The Cabinet of Prime Minister Donald Tusk is to decide Tuesday how much financial help to provide.
