Signature Theatre’s production of Les Miserables” was the big winner at this year’s Helen Hayes Awards, presented Monday night at the Warner Theatre. The musical, directed by Eric Schaeffer, captured six awards in all, including outstanding resident musical.
Two productions tied for outstanding resident play - Studio Theatre’s “Blackbird” and “Twelfth Night” from the Shakespeare Theatre Company in association with McCarterTheatre Center of Princeton, N.J.
Named for veteran actress and District native Helen Hayes (1900-1993), the annual honors recognize outstanding contributions in regional theater.
