WASHINGTON (AP) - It’s Bo day at the White House.

President Barack Obama and wife, Michelle, join daughters Sasha and Malia in welcoming their long-awaited puppy, a black-and-white Portuguese water dog named Bo. The White House has planned a picture session as the first family gets its first pup.

Thousands of youngsters who took part in the Easter Egg Roll were disappointed not to get a look at Bo on Monday, but the White House says the excitement might have been a bit much for the puppy’s debut.

It’s quickly back to work for the president. He’ll be heading to Georgetown University to deliver what the White House describes as a major speech on the economy, showing what the administration is doing to move it from recession to recovery to prosperity.
