KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP) - AMC Entertainment Inc., the nation’s second-largest theater chain, says it expects to post lower fiscal fourth-quarter revenue.
The Kansas City-based company on Wednesday reported preliminary revenue of $382 million for the 13 weeks ending April 2, a 6.3 percent decline from the year-earlier period.
AMC said the drop was due to the year-earlier period including an extra week and more days of the New Year’s Day holiday. It also blamed the mix of movies during the first three months of 2009 versus a year ago.
The company added it was continuing to focus on managing its liquidity and looking for ways to cut debt.
AMC, which is privately held but reports its finances because some of its debt is publicly traded, operates 309 theaters with 4,628 screens in five countries.
