Pistachio product recalls

The following recalls have been announced because the products may be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems:

Indian Groceries & Spices Inc. is recalling raw pistachio kernels. No illness has been reported. The recalled items were sold in Illinois, Florida, South Carolina, Ohio and Indiana between October 2008 and March 31, 2009. Details: by phone at 847-674-2480.

_Nirav Raw Pistachio Kernels; Nirav brand 7-ounce and 14-ounce plastic bags;
