MORGANTOWN, W.VA. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller’s office says the West Virginia lawmaker has undergone successful surgery to repair a torn tendon in his knee.
Rockefeller’s office says the 71-year-old Democrat injured his knee during a visit to West Virginia University on Wednesday. He had surgery at the university’s hospitals and his office says he’s expected to make a full recovery.
A Rockefeller spokeswoman had no immediate comment.
Rockefeller is in the midst of a series of public appearances around his state.
He was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1984.
