HOLTS SUMMIT, MO. (AP) - Authorities say three siblings have died in an early morning fire that swept through their home in rural central Missouri.

Officials said Friday that the children’s mother, another woman and her child were able to escape the fire.

Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane says firefighters found the bodies of a 4-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl on the floors of their bedrooms. He says the flames became too intense and firefighters had leave before the third child, a 6-year-old boy, could be found. His body was recovered after the fire was contained.

No names were released and the cause of the blaze was still being investigated.
