LIMA, PERU (AP) - Peruvian officials say 13 farmers escaped unharmed from a mudslide in rural Peru, leaving just one person unaccounted for.
Local health official Richar Benavides revised initial reports that as many as 30 people were missing after mud and stones crushed dozens of homes Thursday.
Instead, he says, 13 people escaped the slide and two suffered minor injuries. A 40-year-old man was declared missing.
Local politicians arrived by helicopter on Friday to survey the scene.
The mudslide hit the La Libertad province towns of Chamanacucho and Aricapampa, which have been battered by heavy rains.
