NEW YORK (AP) - Regulators have shut down American Sterling Bank in Missouri, raising the number of bank failures so far this year to 24.

The bank has offices in Missouri, Arizona and California.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. was named receiver of the bank, based in Sugar Creek, Mo., which had $181 million in assets and $171.9 million in deposits as of March 20.
