OAKLAND PARK, FLA. (AP) - A small plane has crashed into a house outside Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and smoke can be seen rising from the crash site.

The crash happened Friday morning, and officials believe the aircraft is a Cessna 421, which is a twin-engine prop plane. Television images show the house with a gaping hole. Firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.

Broward County sheriff’s spokeswoman Dani Moschella says a passerby saw the plane go down and alerted authorities.

It isn’t immediately clear if anyone was inside the home, or how many people were aboard the plane.
