BAGHDAD (AP) - Officials say suspected militants have shelled Baghdad’s protected Green Zone in the first such attack in months.

At least two blasts were heard Saturday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

A police official says the rounds were fired from predominantly Shiite eastern Baghdad and landed in the Green Zone. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to media.

The U.S. military was checking the reports.

The Green Zone was last targeted by rockets or mortars on Jan. 15, leaving one person injured. The attacks are usually blamed on Shiite militias.

The Green Zone contains the U.S. and British embassies and key Iraqi government offices.
