PORT-OF-SPAIN, TRINIDAD (AP) - President Barack Obama has a packed schedule at Saturday’s session of the Summit of the Americas under way in Trinidad. The heads of 34 nations are attending.

Obama said at the summit’s opening that he hoped to “launch a new chapter of engagement.” Friday’s session was overshadowed by the president’s declaration that he “seeks a new beginning,” including direct talks, with Cuban leaders.

He has a morning meeting with representatives of a coalition of South American countries. Afterward, he’s scheduled to attend three general sessions. In the evening, Obama will attend the official dinner and cultural show.
