MIDDLETOWN, MD. (AP) - Police say five people have been found dead in a home in northwest Maryland.

The Frederick County sheriff’s office said in a news release that a family member found the bodies about 9 a.m. Saturday. The sheriff’s office says the victims are believed to be family members.

The release did not give any more details and a sheriff’s office spokeswoman did not immediately return a telephone message.

Investigators were at the two-story home in the town of Middletown, a community of less than 3,000 people about 10 miles west of Frederick.

Authorities planned a news conference Saturday afternoon.
