SEEN AND HEARD AT NATIONALS PARK

The mystery of the missing O’s has been solved. Plenty of TV viewers Friday night noticed Adam Dunn and Ryan Zimmerman wearing jerseys that read “NATINALS” on the front.

What happened: MLB asked every team to send three jerseys worn at the home opener to league offices, and the Nationals sent those worn by Dunn, Zimmerman and Elijah Dukes. A new batch was shipped to the District, and those jerseys were used Friday. Dukes’ lettering was fine; the other two weren’t.

“We checked the backs of the new jerseys when they came in,” clubhouse manager Mike Wallace said. “We never thought we had to check the front, too.”

The mistake was discovered in the fourth inning. Dunn and Zimmerman returned for the fifth with the correct uniforms.

BY THE NUMBERS

4.0 pitches on average seen by Nationals batters per plate appearance, fifth-most in the majors.
